This privacy policy describes how the QR Scanner Chrome extension handles your data. The short version: it doesn't collect any.

What data is processed

When you use QR Scanner, the extension temporarily processes the following on your device:

• A screenshot of the region you select on screen, used solely to detect a QR code.
• Clipboard image data, when you paste a screenshot into the extension popup.
• The URL decoded from the QR code, displayed to you for review before any navigation occurs.

None of this data is stored, logged, or transmitted anywhere. All processing happens locally inside your browser.

What data is collected

None. QR Scanner does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information, usage data, browsing history, or any other data to any server or third party.

Permissions explained

QR Scanner requests the following Chrome permissions:

• activeTab — to capture a screenshot of the current tab when you initiate a scan.
• tabs — to open a confirmed URL in a new tab.
• scripting — to display the selection overlay and confirmation prompt on the page.
• clipboardRead — to read an image you paste into the extension popup. This is only accessed when you explicitly paste (Ctrl+V) inside the popup.

No permission is used beyond its stated purpose above.

Third-party services

QR Scanner does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or data services. No external network requests are made by the extension.

Children's privacy

QR Scanner does not collect data from anyone.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date at the top.
